1) A man collects cigarette stubs and makes one full cigarette with every 8 stubs. If he gets 64 stubs how many full cigarettes can he smoke.

Ans: 8+1=9

2) A soldier looses his way in a thick jungle. At random he walks from his camp but mathematically in an interesting fashion. First he walks one mile East then half mile to North. Then 1/4 mile to West, then 1/8 mile to South and so on making a loop. Finally how far he is from his camp and in which direction.

Ans: Distance travelled in north and south directions
1/2 – 1/8 + 1/32 – 1/128 + 1/512 – and so on = 1/2/((1-(-1/4))
Similarly in east and west directions
1- 1/4 + 1/16 – 1/64 + 1/256 – and so on = 1/(( 1- ( – 1/4))
Add both the answers

3) How can 1000000000 be written as a product of two factors neither of them containing zeros

Ans: 2 power 9 x 5 power 9

4) Conversation between two mathematcians:
First : I have three childern. The product of their ages is 36. If you sum their ages, it is exactly same as my neighbour’s door number on my left. The second mathematician verifies the door number and says that it is not sufficient. Then the first says ” Ok one more clue is that my youngest is really the youngest”. 9) A chain is broken into three pieces of equal lenths containing 3 links each. It is taken to a backsmith to join into a single continuous one . How many links are to to be opened to make it ?

10) Grass in lawn grows equally thick and in a uniform rate. It takes 24 days for 70 cows and 60 days for 30 cows to eat the whole of the grass. How many cows are needed to eat the grass in 96 days.?

Ans : 20
g – grass at the beginning
r – rate at which grass grows, per day
y – rate at which one cow eats grass, per day
n – no of cows to eat the grass in 96 days
g + 24*r = 70 * 24 * y
g + 60*r = 30 * 60 * y
g + 96*r = n * 96 * y
Solving, n = 20.

HE: k do u know how wat is internal process dat happens wen u make a call(as am frm ECE bakgrnd he has his quest)
I: i replied it hardly recollecting my cs(sub)but he z not satisfied n some more questions frm it
HE: I think u r nervous
I: yes sir this my first interview
HE:be cool may r so nervous n asked me will u bring ur parents daily f give job 2 u
I: no sir(with a smiling face wich i tried 2 mange tll d end of interview)

I: coming 2 project he interupted me asking questions ina deeper way even wich we cant expect.I failed 2 answer them

HE: talk for 2min on any topic
I: tried max for 1.25min
HE: asked abt my family in a very frndly way that even i hav forgotten that am in d inetrview room stared telling him
HE: asked a puzzle.made a glass with afruit like thing in it with 5 matvh sticks n asked me 2 make any 2 moves bring the fruit out of it(gave me only 10secs of time)
I; tried but he havnt accepted wen he z going 2 ask next quest i saud sir i got it
HE: k leave it next quest(actually i didnt got the puzzle then also)
HE: wat r ur plans abt marriage.how will u manage after gettng married
I: answered in laughable way
HE:k u will geta job in infosys r some other company(like that he zasking something) i interrupted him saying no sir INFOSYS is my dream company.

I prayed d god waited for results. Finnaly after 20 days of my exam i got mail frm infosys. I hav beeen selected . n going to join infosys traing 0n 28th of jan. So, guys prepare well n do well in the interview(concentrate on how u express rather than wat u express).

Hi friends!!!! This is Subhadeep, student of TECHNO INDIA SALTLAKE. INFY came 2 our college on 21st Feb. It was officially an on-campus (I wonder!!! There were 4 colleges)

Infy as usual had 2 rounds:
1. APTITUDE
2.HR(no technical)

The aptitude had 2 segments
1. Verbal reasoning (30 question-40min)
All were quite easy (of R.S Agarwal standard) — Just practice those at least once-that’s more than enof There were questions on Blood relation, data sufficiency, puzzle etc-VERY EASY

2. English (40questions-30mins)
This was easy too there were prep. Syllogism, Choosing correct sentence and few others which I cant remember( U just need 2 have some basic English knowledge- I don’t think solving BARRON is reqd) But friends the problem with this section is TIME SCARCITY There were 2 one page comprehensions with 5 questions each There were hardly any time 2 read those properly (though they were easy

The apti was easy & I did attempt the whole lot. Out of about 1100, 220 cleared the apti (probably cutoff was increased)
The HR was really a cakewalk—DAMN EASY the interviewer was extremely friendly & as I entered told me 2 sit down & then onwards

Q1.Tell me about ur weak points
A: answered (Thank god he didn’t asked me the Deadliest question-Introduce yourself

Q2.Tell about ur xperience after u left ur house
A. This is a filler-he was trying 2 tst communication skill, so I started stating every minute details

Q3. What sports do u follow
A. I answered soccer, cricket & F1

Q4.He went on asking Who’s best in EPL, who won F1 last yr, something about the teams blah blah
A: this was my domain & answered easily (Quite surprising a 55yr guy following F1 2 such a xtnt!!!!!)

Q5. Gave 2 puzzles 2 solve
A: Solved the tougher one but narrowly missed the easy one

Q6.Have u ever worked in a group
A. I answered then he asked more about it & THEN told that’s all

I was happy 2 give my best After a long wait 4 about 2 hrs at 9:15pm(praying 4 the best) finally the names were announced & was elated 2 find I was one of about 135 selected. So guys always have faith on yourself & god U CAN DO IT

Cracking INFY is not tough, just b cool during ur HR

Infosys conducted there first campus recruitment programme for 2009 batch at our college and i must say the paper was bit difficult ,when compared to there previous papers. English part was normal.

The paper was conducted in two phases

1.) Aptitude : 30 Ques. and we had 40 min.
2.) English : 40 Ques and we had 35 min.

APTITUDE :
Q1.) There r 4 players A,B,C & D who play a game 4 times & each time one player looses and as a punishment he doubles the money of other three players.Each player looses once in alphabetical order while playing the game 4 times.At the end each player is left with 32 Rs.

Now there were 5 questions based on the above data like who started with the maximum amount of money,who had the minimum after second round,who had the maximum after third round,who started with minimum,etc.
Q2.) 5 quest were based on figures in which we have to find the next occuring figure in a given sequence of figures.
Q3.) 5 ques. were based on data suffiency(easy).
Q4.) 5 ques. were on pie charts,percentages of import & export of india to different countries were given in angles so they had to be converted in actual percentages,calculations were lengthy as the options were very close to round of percentages.
Q5.) 5 ques. were based on syllogism.
Q6.) 5 ques. were based on Data Interpretation.
Over all aptitude section was very logical and lengthy.

ENGLISH:
First 2 questions were large passages which were followed by 5 simple questions each.Passages were quiet big but questions followed were very simple.
Q3.) It consisted of 6 questions.There were 4 sentences given in each question and we had to find the best gramatically & logically correct sentence out of those 4.
Q4.) There were 6 incomplete sentences & 4 options were given with each.We had to choose the option which best fits the blank.
Q5.) There were 6 small paragraphs given & each paragraph was followed by a question like what could be the best conclusion of the above paragraph,or which option contradicts with the conclusion of the above para. or what could be the logical continuation of the above para.

There were 2 other main questions which had 6 parts each.Questions were based on simple grammar. Over all English section was easy but lengthy.

TIME was the major factor.Hence ur mind should run fleeter than wind.Joining any kind of coaching class won’t help.If u have it in urself than no one can stop u.Just have confidence & be optimistic.

There was sectional cut off which as per my belief was 60% in each section.31out of 188 eligible students were selected in the written test

Second phase consisted of two interviews.It would be ill logical to classify them as technical or H R as both of them had questions related to logic,puzzle,hobbies,sports,etc.

My first interview lasted for about 40 mins.There were two people sitting very much relaxed opposite to me.And I ofcourse was very nervous.They asked me to explain about myself apart from what is mentioned in CV.They asked me about my family.questions were asked regarding my hobbies,my favourite sport(cricket & table tennis),and the role of media in cricket.

A simple question was asked that what would i do if my views start contradicting with rest of my team members.I was also asked that why I want to join INFOSYS.At last there were puzzles.

Puzzle : A bulb is hanging with the help of a string and the other end of the string is attached to the ceiling of a room.Length of the string is such that bulb just touches the top of my head.

I’m not provided with any kind of length measuring device.How can I find the height of the room.(based on oscillations of a simple pendulum).

How can u get 1000 using eight 8s.My first interview was fine as i was able to solve the puzzles.Just have great knowledge regarding your hobbies and never try to fool them.speak effortless & very clear.Have confidence & have faith dear.

Second interview mostly had questions regarding what we had studied in our school time.Eg : what is a Voltaic cell,what is the use of a blast furnace.What is the use of silica.Any 5 properties of metals.Name the 4 protiens present in a human cell.Then i was asked about the best thing & the worst thing which I faced that particular day.

My second interview was excellent as i could answer very well.Person opp to me said very good & finally I had a hand shake with him.His smile just hinted me about my selction Results were announced @ 9:15 pm. 29 students including ME made it for the final selection.I’m very elated just because I’m one among those 29 who r the first one to be recriuted by

INFOSYS Technologies in the year 2008 and it happened on 16th january 2008.We will join INFOSYS probably by oct. 2009.

This is mahendra a student of jnct bhopal (a sister concern of lnct bhopal). infy gives the toughest written test than any that of any company. The test paper consists of two papers first one is of logical reasoning containing 30 questions in 30 mins. no negative marking is there. All the reasoning Questions inclusions the following.

1. Deductive reasoning
2. Simple reasoning (diagrams)
3. A paragraph will, be given n the reasoning questions will be asked on the basis of paragraph (very easy questions thes r)
4. A graph would b given n questions will b asked on the basis of that graph (easy but time taking)

The second paper is of complete english. very long paper it is, containins 40 ques n the time to solve is 35 mins…. this paper is very tough…includes
1.unseen passage (never read the passage first. first see the questions asked after that find the answers in the passage for better time management.
2.small passages were given to u n the best summary will b asked…. also tthe title for the passage may b asked….
3.fill in the blank wid the appropiate sentence
4. correct the wrong sentence

After giving the written i quickly went to other college to give l& t InfoTech. I have filled all the entries of answer sheet there n just the paper was about to b distributed… i got the call that i have been selected… i gave back my answer sheet n run to my bike to lnct i picked my tie n wear it n on a call for my name i entered the room for interview. As the interviewer was very far away from the gate i didn’t ask for the permission to enter…

he was very very impressed n asked to leave i wished last time n come out from the room…. after that i went to have a cup of tea i was very happy n i was make known that there is also a second phase of interview…..fortyunately i reached at time there

frens after that i again went to have the tea…. before reaching back the results were announced n i was selected in final 13 students if my college. frens if u have cleared the written of infy … u have 90% selected……but in written try to good better
